OK, SO WHAT'S THE STORY ON THE BRASS FEET?

The brass feet in the sidewalk in the front of Norris Shoes were first placed there in 1909 by A.C. Taylor "The Footfitter", as they were his trademark. They were embedded when the first concrete sidewalks were poured to replace the early boardwalks in downtown Medford. Many Medford residents, both young and old can remember hopping from one foot to another or marveling at just how big those footprints are.

The sidewalk has been replaced several times in the 94 years since the feet were first placed there. Each time the city has carefully placed them back into position.

Side note: Dr. Phipps' name still graces the front of our building, way up at the top on the right hand side. Next time your in downtown Medford, take a look.
